Comment #29 - Posted by: KATHRYN PARRISH at December 1, 2012 12:37 AM

I usually don't comment, but I LOVE this workout!!

Is it against level 1 "rules"? No. It's light weight for most people, which means people need to scale it to whatever makes it light weight for them. If needed, you could scale the bar movements to PVC pipe. Do med ball cleans. Every single one of these movements is infinitely scalable.

Is it too many reps? No. Filthy 50 is 500 reps and no one complains about that.

In short, scale reps, scale weight, and do work.

I started doing X Fit in Afghanistan and carried it over to home. Now, I am doing contract work at Ft. Sill and stuck at a hotel in Lawton where I did todays WOD. There are no free weights, but only one of those terrible one machine that does it all things that does not do any one thing well. It was hard to to KB swings with a bar attached to a cable pully thing and trying to do squats with the same was practically impossible but on the bright side, I almost puked next some fat lady on the eliptical.

I was definitely looking forward to this workout as soon as I saw it posted last night and it was most certainly more painful than I had expected. Seeing that people twice my age are doing twice the weight that I did in half my time is kind of disappointing, but will only motivate me to do better and work harder. Big time suffering. Thank god I decided to scale this one even though it looked doable as rx'd. Tried to do one exercise per minute. Made it unbroken until halfway through (including the KB swings) in 10 or 11 minutes. But the second half took forever, dips heavily broken and burpees one by one. Felt like crashed against a wall.
Headache after finish, sore quads two hours later already.

I was skurrd of this WOD. I did it, and I almost barfed. My chest burned, and I broke up the final front squats. Yes, and I scaled back the weights, but i pussed through. I fell out after it was done, and happily, greatfully assumed the classic crossfit recovery position. That was fiendishly fun. Thank you crossfit.

Christian, my understanding is that if it doesn't say squat clean you can do any clean of your choice. Although I'm with you in that I usually try to do squat cleans, not on this one though. Finally convinced my girlfriend to try Crossfit, felt kind of bad that this was her first one. Scaled to puppy weight or less and had to modify some stuff but she finished and beat me grrr (had to help her with some form though). After she was done she grudgingly admitted that there may be something to this Crossfit stuff. Thanks CF!

M/ 38/ 134 lbs/ 5'-6"
As Rx: 30:42
I had to "waste" a bunch of time runnign all over the place to do certain exercises like the GHD situps.. I had to run about 300' then up a flight and a half then do the reps and then come back to do the next movment. I did the T2E on a square bar (top chord of a cable cross over machine).. kind of hurts the hands a bit.. grip was a factor and had to drop a couple times... my hands were a bit sweaty and the large square tube makes it hard to hold on for more than about 10 reps.
GREAT WOD. I read this and although my body was a bit beat up and sore, I wanted to do this long Chipper... it's like every movement/ laundry list just check off and keep going.. none of the stations were a killer, but the 135 lb clean took me 4 mini sets, and I had to break up the FS into sets of 6s and then a quick 2.. 135 felt heavy at the end.
I wish my stations were closer, but it was a lot of fun.

This is not how I would teach a deadlift to start out, nor is it how I have seen Lou teach it to start. But if someone comes in with a certain set of weaknesses like say weak hips and keeping the hips close to the bar in the sumo this drill is great one. I also found it helped me stick with heavier weights off the ground. Not because it taught me to rip them up shoulders first without my hips because it taught my upper back to hang in there while the stronger joints did their job. Hope this helps!

Guys we're walking in the gym looking at me and my buddy and where like is it that bad. We just smiled and said HAVE FUN...

I have decided I am going to call this work out the disgusting twenty. Simply for the fact it was disgusting (in a good way tho)

When I saw this come up I was really excited. By the time I got to overhead squats, it felt like I was at war with myself! My mind was screaming louder and louder to stop but I didn't listen. Felt like my soul was stripped bare when I was done. Wept as I did my cool down. Hardest workout I have ever done sans my black belt test. Anyway, here's the numbers:

Decent job overall. JD kept track of exercises so I'm sure that helped w/time. FS may have been toughest. Sq cleans definitely longest. Decent job staying on heels on FS. Good job catching bar in rack position w/narrow stance on sq cleans. Many exercises broken to 7+7+6 or 12+8. Could've pushed harder on some - PU, OHS. GHD moved 2 notches from normal.
